Hand forged and crafted by Chris Zhou, this sword was chosen as the winner of the Masters of Fire Contemporary Bladesmiths Competition. Top blade smiths from all over the world entered the competition, the blades varying as much as the countries the smiths hailed from. However, it was this replica of the blade wielded by the Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty that won the day. The museum that held the competition was so impressed with Chris Zhou's opus work, that they purchased the sword and hung it there in the museum.
The piece that we are offering was made by Chris Zhou himself, and mirrors the original that hangs in the Macao Museum almost perfectly. Every aspect of this sword has been expertly crafted by one of the best blade smiths in the world. The blade was folded 13 times to create more than 8.000 layers of steel. Worked in the Ba Hau style, the blade has eight sides. This alone could only have been done by an expert smith. The blade has been quenched in the legendary spring of Longquan, or the dragon spring. The fittings of the sword and scabbard are bronze, cast in the lost wax method. This piece is a very limited edition production, with less than ten of these swords in existence, including the one hanging in the Macao Museum. Each fitting is the same as the Emperor's sword, transcending time through 2,162 years. The cord wraps are dark brown silk and the scabbard is made of ancient sandalwood. This is not a replica of history; this sword is a piece of history in the making. The sword includes a Certificate of Authenticity, a serial number, official stamp of Chris Zhou, and Chris Zhou's signature.
